This very popular and affordable (featured in Time-Life books) pressed steel tool is especially adept at cutting smaller pieces to be fitted around chimney or valley of roof. The tough, heat treated blade is removeable and can be reordered as can the punch. The variable pitch of the curved blade gives excellent "bite" on the toughest slate varieties up to 3/8" thick. For greater stability, two pieces of angle iron can be fitted to the bottom section by means of predrilled screw holes, at the option of user. The angle iron is included with purchase.

These portable, lightweight slater's stakes allow precise cutting of slate with a slate hammer at or near the site of installation. Driven into any stable wooden member such as a hip, ridge or scaffold plank, they provide a stable cutting edge for working the slate. Used in conjunction with our fine slate hammers a more prominent bevel can be achieved, more natural looking than slate cutters can produce. Also excellent for cutting curves and round holes in slates to cover vent pipes, etc.
