STORTZ ROOFING SLATE HAMMERS

These are the traditional tools for cutting and installing roofing slate. In conjunction with a slater's stake (see below) or some other stable straight edge, precise chamfered cuts can be made with the hammer alone. The pick end perforates the slate for a snap cut and then the beveled cutting blade on the handle is employed to "chop" a clean edge. Claw, hammer face, pick and cutting edge, all are the product of years of study of the process of cutting and working roofing slate. Slate hammers are mounted with an all leather handle for comfort and control.

Point, claw and hammer face are specially heat treated to withstand tough use. The claw at center is made for pulling nails without damaging installed slate. The beveled edge at top of midsection is used for trimming slate. An all leather handle is featured.
