IMPORTANT USAGE INFORMATION! It is recommended that all copper tips be tinned prior to use. Tinning the tip will increase the life of the tips and make the solder flow smoother. To properly tin the copper head:
- Heat the copper tip to the point of just melting the solder
- Rub the tip against the Salamoniac block until it fumes and simultaneiously apply solder to the tip. Wipe the tip clean to remove any residue.
- This will clean the copper head and prepare it properly for either first time use or when you are changing types of metal being worked on -OR- Scrape some Salamoniac into a glass of water, quickly dip the hot tip into the water to remove residue from the tip
