Purchased this jointer for pointing and realized upon use that the bent end was not the way to go. You need to have a tip to press into the mortar to get good compaction and to press into deeply ground out joints. I was able to flatten the ends in a vice then file the ends square, which greatly improved function. I prefer the flat bar stock type for pointing as opposed to the round stock of this jointer. It gives the thumb a better seat.
