We were curious to understand our customers better and you did not disappoint. We had over 80 responses to our questions and it helps us better understand who we supply. Let’s dive into some finer details of what was discovered.

What type of roofer are you?

Seeing as this was a metal roofing survey, it was good to see that 90%+ of the responders do some type of metal roofing. This was followed closely by shingles, flat roofing, commercial work, slate, and then tile.

Majority of our surveyed customers are installing Metal Roofing (residential). It is worth noting that around half of these responses are also willing to install various other roofing materials too. Responses indicate that our roofing customers are multitalented and understand multiple roofing systems.

How do you procure your metal roofing panels?

Responses indicate that majority of roofers are either

  1. Buying panels locally from a distributor
  2. Owning a roll former and running panels themselves

This question begs many follow-up questions. Are you happy with your local supplier? Do they supply the tools necessary to do quality field work? What issues arise when you own your own pan former? Feel free to leave comments on this post regarding any of these if you feel strongly.

What brand of roll former do you use?

There are a small number of companies that manufacturer rollformers catering to the residential metal market. They were reflected in your responses. New Tech Machinery, ESE, Roll Former, Zimmerman, Schlebach, Berridge, Tennsmith, Englert, and Wuko. Each of the machines have slght variations in their capabilities and extensive research should be put forth before making a purchasing decision.

What content do you want more of?

  1. Best Practices in Metal Roofing

We offer a variety of content to our customers, but it appears that most importantly, roofers want be confident that they are installing a long lasting roof with proven methods. Far and away the answer was “specialized roofing tools”. This leads us to believe that most of the other products are readily available at a local distributor. Our niche should be the hard to find items that make your work easier.
