Manual Double Lock Standing Seam Operation

Tools Required:

Adjustable Roofing Tong

Roofing Double Seamer – 1″ x 1 1/4″

Tinner’s Hammer – PVC Rounded – 371-A

STEP 1

Using our 79-A Adjustable Roofing Tong, insert the metal to the desired depth using the 2 wing set screws as stops. Bend two pieces of metal at 90° and to the desired height. One piece should be 1/4” higher than the other.


STEP 2

Match the higher side of the tool up against the lower side of metal; they should be even in height.


STEP 3

Strike the outer panel flat over the tool’s ridge.


STEP 4

Switch the tool to the opposite side so that the higher end of the tool is up against the outer panel.


STEP 5

Strike the outer panel against the tool so that it lies bent down against the inner panel. This will create the single lock seam.


STEP 6

Move the tool to the other side. Using the lower side of the tool, match it up against the created single lock seam. Strike the outer panel so that it lies flat against the tool’s ridge as done previously.


STEP 7

Switch the tool to the opposite side. Strike the created 90-degree bend so that it lies flat against the tool. This will create the double lock standing seam. [7+8]


STEP 8

Switch the tool to the opposite side. Strike the created 90-degree bend so that it lies flat against the tool. This will create the double lock standing seam. [7+8]
