Yes. The DachFreunde Cordless Seam Opener opens 1’ double-lock mechanical standing seams in two passes. The first pass opens the double lock, and the second pass opens the remaining single lock, allowing the metal roofing panel to be removed.
What metal thickness can the DachFreunde Cordless Seam Opener handle?
The DachFreunde Cordless Seam Opener is designed for 1-inch mechanical lock standing seam panels and can be used on steel up to 26 gauge. It is not recommended for 24-gauge steel. Always confirm your panel profile and material thickness before using the seam opener.
Does the DachFreund Cordless Seam Opener work on 1.5 or 2” panels?
1.5” – At the moment, the stabilizing wheels are specifically designed to allow the opening dies to work on 1”. We are working on getting a 1.5” wheel set.
2” – No. The die sets are not made to the 2” panel dimensions. This tool will not work with 2” panels.

Instead of cutting through the seam, the DUO progressively opens the existing lock, allowing damaged panels to be removed without damaging the surrounding sheets.
