Create a Male / Female Standing Seam Profile With Wuko

Tools Required:

Wuko Unibender 2204

Anti Slip Mat

Creating a Female Profile (1″x ½”x3/8″)

  • STEP 1

    Set Wuko 2204 to a depth of 1 7/8″

  • STEP 2

Insert sheet metal in between the sets of roller bearings on the bending tool. Using smooth back and forth motions on the metal, apply upward pressure in the direction of your bend. (Single bearing should rest on the direction that you are bending). Complete this bend at 90 degrees.

  • STEP 3

Now set your metal bender to a depth of 3/8″ and place the already bent metal in between the bearings (be sure the single bearing is facing toward the direction of the bend). With the same bending motion, complete the second bend of the profile (3/8″).

  • STEP 4

To complete the final stage of the female profile, set the bender to a depth of ½”. This bend will accomplish the ½” top leg of the profile. Place the bender atop the current bend in the metal (single bearing in the direction you intend to bend). Notice the 3/8″ portion of the bend will fit exactly between the open space of the benders shafts.

  • STEP 5

Use the same back and forth motion to bend the metal another 90° completing the female profile.

Creating a Male Profile (1″ x 3/8″)

  • STEP 1

Set your bending depth to 3/8″

  • STEP 2

Insert sheet metal in between bearing of the Wuko 2204 UniBender. Using a smooth back and forth motion, complete a 90° bend in material.

  • STEP 3

Set your bending depth to 1″

  • STEP 4

Slide your metal bender over your 3/8″ bend so that the material fits in between the two roller bearings. Now use a back and forth motion to bring the 1″ high bend to 90°. The male profile is now complete.
