Cordless Metal Panel Seamers are a popular tool for those looking to streamline their mechanical lock roofing with the convenience of portability.
In this FAQ, we’ll answer some of the most common questions about cordless metal roof panel seamers, from battery life to maintenance tips. If you’re considering investing in one, this guide will provide all the essential information to help you get started.
What is the max thickness?
These cordless power seamers are powerful enough to tackle double lock seaming in 24ga steel (max 24ga clips), 26ga stainless steel, 24oz copper, .032 aluminum, and .8mm zinc.
What height seams do the seamers work with?
The cordless power seamers at Stortz Tools are capable of seaming 1″ & 1.5″ seams without needing adjustments. That is because they “ride” on top of the seam as opposed to rolling on the roof surface. Their lightweight design keeps the seams from being damaged.
What drill & drill settings are recommended?
Any standard 18V drill will be adequate for powering the seaming machine. We utilize the Milwaukee M18 FUEL brushless drills for all our seaming, but our customers use a variety in the field.
The drill should be on the highest drill torque setting (not hammer mode) & speed 1.
What is the difference between the AccuSeamer and the Double FalzSeamer?
Referencing the question above will help answer this. The Double FalzSeamer completes both stage locks in one pass up the seam. The AccuSeamer requires two passes in order to double lock.
Can I complete the single lock ONLY if I own the Double FalzSeamer?
Yes, to single lock only with the Double FalzSeamer, simply remove the back two rollers with the allen wrench included.
How can I adjust the machines pressure?
One of the benefits of seaming with a cordless seamer is the ease of adjusting the seaming pressure. Utilize the black knobs on the right side of the machine casing to adjust the pressure. There is an adjustment knob on the front half as well as the back half of the machine.
